About

The Notre Dame Debate Team is an intercollegiate club at the university that participates in a variety of debate styles and formats. The team primarily participates in parliamentary debate, in forms including NPDA/NPTE, APDA, and IPDA. In the past, we have also competed on the NFA LD circuit as well.

History

2022-2023

At the Big Tent Online Tournament, the team of Ellie Spielmann and Kaitlyn Dehais finished eighth overall, and the team of Finn Meffe and Kephas Olsson finished fifth.

At the Indiana State Forensics Championship, the Notre Dame Debate Team finished second overall as a team. In Varsity IPDA debate, Chris Jaghab finished third and Finn Meffe was the State Champion!

2021-2022 

The team of Kaitlyn Dehais & Ellie Spielmann finished first at the 2022 Icebox Classic & placed third at the ACC Debate Championship.

2020-2021

The team of Patrick Aimone & Conrad Palor were runners-up at the ACC Debate Championship.

2019-2020

The Notre Dame Debate team began an inaugural tradition of debating the Navy Midshipmen. This year the teams debated whether or not the united states federal government should implement a universal basic income.

The Notre Dame Debate Team also had the opportunity to travel to Dublin, Ireland to compete in British Parliamentary at Trinity College Dublin.

2018-2019

Palor C Accdebate
The Notre Dame Debate Team of sophomore Conrad Palor and first year Patrick Aimone won the ACC Debate Championships in Washington D.C.

The Notre Dame Debate Team of Conrad Palor and Duncan Donahue made it to elimination rounds at the 2019 NPDA Nationals Tournament
